Overview
A Lean engagement, researching opportunities for business improvement across the information technology business unit of a New Zealand district health board, and developing a roadmap for the delivery of the improvements. A secondary part of the engagement included developing and coaching business analysts working within the information technology business unit to build capability and learn new skills.
Role
Lead business analyst across the engagement, implementing an agile approach to opportunity discovery using Lean and agile business analysis methods, whilst providing coaching and upskilling to in-house resources on agile, Lean and business analysis in general.

Value Delivered
- Coaching of participant business analysts in tools, techniques and approaches with the objective of up-skilling
- Successful delivery of the outputs from the engagement, which included a future state vision and roadmap
- Development of 14 value stream maps that covered different areas of the information technology business unit
- Identification of 264 improvement opportunities across employee experience, governance, risk management, strategic direction, process, service delivery, operational standards, technology, communication and regionalisation
- 15 improvement opportunities were delivered while the engagement was running, demonstrating rapid delivery of immediate opportunities
